Calnio vs Notion Calendar
Notion Calendar is Notion's own calendar app, and it is free. It shows your Notion databases next to your Google, iCloud and Outlook events, inside Notion Calendar. Calnio does something else: it writes your Notion dates into Apple Calendar itself, as real iCloud events.
Free for one database, one way. $3.99 a month for two-way and all of them, the first 7 days free with no card. Nothing to install.
The short answer
Pick Notion Calendar if
You are happy to open a separate calendar app to see your Notion dates. It is free, it is made by Notion, it runs on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, and you can edit a database item there. If that is all you need, you do not need Calnio.
Pick Calnio if
You want the dates inside Apple Calendar itself, the app your iPhone already opens, with alerts on your lock screen and your wrist. Notion Calendar keeps your database inside its own app.
Calnio and Notion Calendar, side by side
Calnio first in each row, Notion Calendar second. What Notion Calendar does is taken from Notion's product page and help center, read on 24 October 2026.
Where your dates show up
Calnio puts them in an iCloud calendar, so they are in Apple Calendar on your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and on iCloud.com.
Notion Calendar shows them in Notion Calendar. Notion's help center says the database is not shown in Google or iCloud calendar.
Editing
Calnio, with two-way switched on: move, rename or delete the event in Apple Calendar and the page follows. Two-way comes with the paid plan and the trial.
Notion Calendar lets you edit the title, the date and several other properties of an item, if you can edit the database.
Calendar events into Notion
Calnio turns a new event in a sync's own calendar into a new page, when two-way is on. Repeating events and invitations never become pages.
Notion says importing Google Calendar events into a Notion database is not yet possible.
Google Calendar and Outlook
Calnio writes real events into Google Calendar too, one calendar per database. Not Outlook.
Notion Calendar shows Google, iCloud and Outlook calendars together.
Price
Calnio is free for one database, one way, and $3.99 a month for two-way and every database, the first 7 days free with no card.
Notion Calendar is free.
Setup
Calnio: sign in with Google, connect Notion, add an iCloud app-specific password, tick databases. Nothing to install.
Notion Calendar: install the app, connect your calendars (iCloud takes an app-specific password there too), then add the database from the sidebar, which works on desktop and web only.
Why a real event, and not a view
Alerts like any other event
The default alert times you set in Calendar apply to Calnio's events, so a due date can reach your lock screen or your wrist.
Every app that reads iCloud
A Calnio calendar is an ordinary iCloud calendar. You can colour it, hide it or share it, and it shows up wherever your iCloud calendars do, Notion Calendar included.
Todoist too
Calnio also syncs a Notion database with a Todoist project: title, due date, done and priority.
Calnio is not instant: it checks every 30 minutes on the free plan, every 15 on the paid plan, or as often as every 5 if you choose it. It syncs the title and the date, so ticking a task done in Notion leaves its event where it is. How it looks on a phone is in Notion in your iPhone calendar, and the Todoist side in the Notion Todoist sync guide.
Questions
Does Notion Calendar put my Notion database in Apple Calendar?
No. Notion's help center says a database added to Notion Calendar can be viewed there only, not in Google or iCloud calendar. The dates stay inside the Notion Calendar app.
Calnio writes them into an iCloud calendar, so they are in Apple Calendar on your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.
Is Notion Calendar free?
Yes, Notion offers it for free. If seeing your Notion dates beside your other events in a separate app is enough, it costs nothing and you do not need Calnio.
Can I use Calnio and Notion Calendar together?
Yes. A calendar Calnio makes is an ordinary iCloud calendar, and Notion Calendar shows iCloud calendars, so it appears there too. If you also add the same database in Notion Calendar, you will see each date twice.
Everything here about Notion Calendar was checked on October 24, 2026. If anything is out of date, email me and I will fix it. Every other option I found is in ways to sync Notion with a calendar, and the closest paid one is in Calnio vs 2sync.
